Obituary of Lola Calpernia Stuhr

Mrs. Lola C. Stuhr of Vancouver went home to be with the Lord on Resurrection Sunday, March, 23rd, 2008. She was 97 years young. â??All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.â?? Psalm 139:16 Lola was born on a farm in Iowa on July 7th, 1910 and was the 2nd of five children. She graduated from Neola High School in 1925 at the age of 15. She met her future husband, Leslie Nick Stuhr at a dance there and they were married on September 26th, 1932. Their fist child Gail was born in 1936 and shortly there after they moved to Camas, WA where their next two children, Caroline and Eldon were born. She worked for many years at the telephone company in Camas and later at the Post Record Newspaper. Lola, known as Nana to her family, lived a full life enjoying traveling, quilting, sewing, bingo, dancing, baking, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be missed greatly by many. One of her favorite sayings to her family was to drive slow, carefully, and pray. She was preceded in death by her husband Leslie, daughter Gail, granddaughter Karen, and friend and companion Dale McDowell. She is survived by her two children and their spouses, Caroline and David of New Mexico, and Eldon and Jacque of Camas. Her 10 grandchildren are: Bill, Rob, Jeff, Sindi, Tad, Kelly, Terry, Jennifer, Julianne, and Jocelyn. Lola also has 8 great grandchildren, and 2 great, great grandchildren. A celebration of her life, with family and friends, will be held on her birthday, July 7th, when she would have been 98 years old. The family would like to thank the staff, nurses, and caregivers of the Hampton Alzheimerâ??s Community in Vancouver for taking such wonderful care and showing such love for our Nana. Also a thank you to the Hospice nurses for the time they spent with her and the care they gave her.
