Obituary of Ezra Mansfield Parks

EZRA M. PARKS Ezra Bopper Parks, age 89, passed away March 15 in Camas. He was born April 26, 1918 in Preston, ID to Scott and Fannie Parks. He worked many trades during his long career. He worked for Plylock Lumber and during WWII he worked for the Oregon Shipyards. After the war he moved his family to Stevenson, WA and worked at the plywood mill. They later moved back to Portland and he worked for Union Pacific Railroad until 1956. From 1956 until his retirement in 1984, Ezra worked as a longshoreman with Portland ILWU Local 8. Mr. Parks was an accomplished musician. He wrote and composed the Mt. Angel Oktoberfest theme Polka which is still played annually. He also played with many bands in the Portland area. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie in 1975. Survivors include his son, Norman and wife, Diana; grandchildren Sheri and Larry Bowers and Michael and Lynette Parks and great grandchildren Larry John, David and Preston. A celebration of Mr. Parksâ?? life will be held Monday, March 24 at 11:30AM at Straubâ??s Funeral Home in Camas. Private interment will be at Rose City Cemetery in Portland.
