Obituary of Hugh Payton Loy

HUGH PAYTON LOY Hugh Loy, age 92, passed away August 20, 2007 in Vancouver. He was born October 22, 1914 in Nyssa, OR to Herbert and Gertrude Payton Loy. He moved to Estacada at age 6 and then to Portland where he graduated from Parkrose High School. Hugh served in the Army Air Corps during WWII as a mechanic on the ?Twenty-Nines? in Guam. After his discharge he came to Camas and worked at Crown Zellerbach for 43 years as a mechanic and supervisor of the paper machines. Hugh married Edith Brunner in Portland in 1938. He belonged to the American Legion and was a former member of the B.P.O.E. in Vancouver. He loved to fly fish and took several lessons. Mr. Loy built three houses for his family and also remodeled a couple of houses. Hugh was a hard worker. He is survived by his wife, Edith of Vancouver; daughters, Linda Royer of Vancouver, Rhonda Mack of Woodinville, WA; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Thursday, August 23 at 1pm at the Camas Cemetery. Straub?s Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas in charge of the arrangements.
