Obituary of Lewis Edmond Burden, Jr.

LEWIS EDMOND BURDEN, JR. Lewis Burden, of Camas, passed away, Thursday, May 6 in Newport, OR. He was 70. Mr. Burden was born August 15, 1933 in Camas where he was raised and graduated from high school. He attended Washington State University and earned his degree in Pharmacology. He later moved back to Camas and owned and operated Burden?s Rexall Drug Store for 15 years. He then worked part time in Stevenson and HiWay Pharmacy in Camas and then for 17 years at Payless in Vancouver. Lewis retired in 1992 due to health problems. He enjoyed stamp collecting, reading, and was an assistant scout leader for the Girl Scouts. He was preceded in death by a son, L. Michael Burden in 1997. He is survived by his wife, Jeannie at home; son, Jon Burden of Camas; daughters, Cinda Busch of Mt. Vernon, WA and Kathee Gaudren of Washougal; step-daughter, Cherie Ellithorpe of Oregon; step-son, William Ellithorpe of Washougal; sister, Diane Oberst of Beaverton, OR; special cousin, B.J. Olson of Antelope, MT; 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be Tuesday, May 11 at 11am at Straub?s Funeral Home in Camas. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be given to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Oregon SW Washington Chapter @ 1650 NW Naito Parkway, Suite 190, Portland, OR 97209.
