Douglas G. Danielson

02/22/1951 – 02/16/24

Douglas G. Danielson, born February 22, 1951, in Portland, Oregon, passed away peacefully at his home in Camas, Washington on February 16, 2024. He was the beloved son of Audrey and Norman Danielson. Douglas was a loving husband to Sue Danielson, whom he married on August 5, 1978, at The First Christian Church in Chehalis, Washington. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories, and two beautiful children.

He was a devoted father to Brooke Danielson and caring father-in-law to Megan Vorderstrasse of Camas, Derek Danielson and partner Brittany Walker (Elle and Kai Polin) of Camas. Douglas was also a loving brother to William Danielson of Camas. He was a family man through and through, always putting his loved ones first and cherishing every moment spent together.

Douglas was a proud graduate of Camas High School in 1969 and went on to earn his Bachelor of Architecture from WSU in 1975. His passion for architecture led him to work at various architectural firms in Vancouver, Longview, and Olympia where he left his mark with his creative and innovative designs. He was part owner/operator of Danielson Thriftway in the Vancouver, Washougal, and Camas areas and ended his working career at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in the security department.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Douglas was an active member of his community belonging to Zion Lutheran Church in Camas and Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He found joy in giving back and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.

Outside of work, Douglas had a wide range of hobbies and interests that brought him immense happiness. From sailing, photography, drawing and painting, attending sporting events and enjoying music and singing, he had a zest for life that was truly infectious. He was also a die-hard Cougar fan, truly enjoyed Jimmy Buffet and known for his love of Tommy Bahama. Most importantly he had an unfailing love of God. He was always spreading positivity and good vibes wherever he went.

Douglas will be remembered for his kind and gentle nature, his unwavering loyalty to his loved ones, and his genuine love for life. His legacy of compassion and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Continue to shine bright in the lives of those he touched.
