Janet Rae Cline Hancock, 84, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2026, surrounded by her family after living with Alzheimer’s disease.
Janet was born on September 3, 1941, to Hubert and Charlotte Cline. She was born and raised in Camas, Washington, and remained a lifelong member of the Camas-Washougal community.
She married John Hancock, and they shared nearly 40 years of marriage before his passing in 2001.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Charlotte Cline; her husband, John Hancock; her son-in-law, Joe Smith; and her brother, Dennis Cline.
She is survived by her children, Sherrie Rhodes (Jonathan Rhodes), Chris Smith, and John Hancock (Angela Hancock); her brother, Gary Cline (Mindy Schmidt); her grandchildren, Toni Smith, Riley Puckett, Tina Smith, Violet Nelson (Kevin Nelson), and Iris Hancock; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Janet worked at the Camas Dairy Queen, the Camas Paper Mill, and briefly at Lacamas Elementary School before beginning a 28-year career with Frito-Lay, where she retired in 1999.
Janet enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, reading, doing puzzles, playing games with her grandchildren, walking, spending time in the pool, and watching sporting events.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of Straub’s Funeral Home. A celebration of Janet’s life will be held at a later date.
