LETA E. MALLATT Leta Mallatt, a Washougal resident, passed away, Wednesday, June 2 in Vancouver. She was born September 2, 1916 in Coburg, OR to Homer and Martha Payne. She was raised in Coburg and in 1937 she married Gerald T. Mallat in Washougal. During WWII, Leta volunteered as a Armed Forces Air Warden spotting planes on Mt. Norway. Mrs. Mallatt was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, crocheting and overseeing her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald, in 1993. Survivors include her daughters, Joan Walker and Pat Gadbaw both of Washougal; son, Jerry W. Mallatt of Vancouver; brother, Buster Payne of Springfield, OR; 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. A graveside service will be Tuesday, June 8 at 1pm at the Washougal Memorial Cemetery in Washougal. Visitation will be Monday at Straub?s Funeral Home from 10am to 5pm. Memorial donations can be given to the Ray Hickey Hospice House @ 2112 E Mill Plain Blvd., Vancouver, WA 98661.
