Obituary of Kenneth Frank Thompson

KENNETH FRANK THOMPSON Kenneth Thompson, age 84, passed away on January 2, 2017. He was born May 22, 1932 in Phoenix, AZ to Frank and Hazel Thompson. Ken was an All State baseball player for North Phoenix High School and graduated in 1950. He went on to play football at the University of Southern California and was a member of the 1953 Rose Bowl Championship team. Ken married Carolyn London on August 22, 1953. While at USC he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from the school of business administration. Ken coached the 1955 freshman team at USC and later became employed by the J.J. Newberry Company. After moving to Camas from California, they built a house on Livingston Mountain. Ken studied real estate and was employed by Howard Lorenz in Camas. Not only did Ken umpire baseball but he coached many Little League teams. He loved woodworking and was known for his garden row markers at local Christmas Bazaars. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; children, Susan Nick Richardson of Washougal, Robert Thompson of Washougal, Russell Michelle Thompson of Petaluma, CA; 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. A private family gathering was held at Straub's Funeral Home in Camas. Burial will be at the Los Gatos Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Gatos, CA.
