Obituary of Douglas B. Gilson

DOUGLAS B. GILSON Douglas Gilson, age 83, passed away at his home in Washougal on September 12, 2016. He was born July 26, 1933 in Rhinelander, WI. He graduated from Rhinelander H.S. in 1951 and worked for two years on the ore boats on the Great Lakes. He spent four years in the Air Force and moved to Camas in 1958. Douglas graduated from Oregon State University with a B.S. degree in wildlife management and worked as a fishery biologist for the Federal Fish & Wildlife Service. He retired in 1988. Douglas married Janet in 1962. They enjoyed camping, hiking and bird watching. He is survived by his wife, Janet; daughters, Becky Gilson and Amy McGee; granddaughter, Molly Mann and great granddaughters, Sara and Hannah. At his request there will be no public service. Straub's Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas was in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to the Nature Conservancy.
