James Berni James "Jim" Robert Berni peacefully passed away at his home in Vancouver on Thursday, May 26, 2016. Born on November 11, 1944 in Bend, Oregon to Robert Bruce and Clara Lois Van Matre Berni; Jim was 71 years old. After graduating high school in Pasco, Washington, Jim went on to earn his Associate Degree from Columbia Basin College in Pasco. Upon graduating, Jim enlisted in the United State Army National Guard and then went to work in the lighting industry for the majority of his career at Graybar and then CED. He married the love of his life Marlene Rae Roake on January 31, 1970 and had six children. Jim enjoyed golfing, supporting the Portland Trailblazers and the Los Angeles Rams and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Marlene at home; children Brian Berni, Scott Diana Berni, Jeff Berni, Kelli Randy Peterson, Travis Berni, Staci Erik Knapp; sister Jane Duncan; and thirteen grandchildren. There will be a funeral service for Jim on Wednesday, June 1st at 12:00 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Nehalem Ward: 7101 NE 166th Avenue Vancouver, WA 98682. Interment will take place at the Fern Prairie Cemetery in Camas, Washington. Straub's Funeral Home and Columbia River Cremation in Camas is in charge of arrangements.
