Obituary of Mara Lynn McFadden

Mara Lynn McFadden, 49, passed away July 11, 2017 following a long battle with cancer.  Mara was born May 21, 1968 in Charleston, Illinois to John and Marjorie Checkley.  She graduated from Charleston High School in 1986 and was a psychology major and Dean’s List student at Eastern Illinois University.  Mara’s greatest source of joy was her home and family, who use the word “Awesome” to describe her.  She leaves her husband, Kirk McFadden, daughters Olivia and Lucy, step daughter, Katelynn; father and mother-in-law Lynn and Jane McFadden; brother and sister-in-law Tom and Kelli Morris, nieces Allison and Bailey.   She is also survived by her mother Marjorie Checkley of Charleston, IL, sisters Kim Wilkins (George) of Paso Robles, CA and Jill Bence (Kevin) and nephew, Casey of Hoopeston, IL.  She was predeceased by her father, John Checkley and twin brother, John Randal.

A celebration of Mara’s life will be held Tuesday, August 1st, 1:00pm at the Columbia Presbyterian Church, 805 SE Columbia Ridge Drive, Vancouver.

Arrangements were handled by Straub’s Funeral home with burial at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Vancouver.
