Obituary of Kathleen A Essex

Please share a memory of Kathleen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Kathleen A. Essex was born November 7, 1948, to Thomas and Juanita McEneny, the youngest of 4 children.  She went home to God on April 29, 2017.  She was 68 years old.  Kathy graduated from Washougal High School in 1966.  Kathy and Dick, the love of her life, were married in 1966, and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last summer, surrounded by family and friends.  Both Kathy and Dick are long-time Camas School District employees and Clark County natives.

Kathy loved music and from an early age used her lovely soprano voice in high school musicals, and as the music director at St. Thomas Church for 26 years.  She sang at countless weddings and funerals, gave voice lessons and sang with “One Voice Choral” even through her illness.

A gifted fabric artist, she made collectible dolls and bears when her children were small.  Lately, her artistry with quilts led to many gifts to children’s charities and other charities.

Kathy blessed all who knew her with her kindness and loving ways.  She will be greatly missed by her beloved husband, Richard, brother, Don McEneny, sister, Sharon McEneny, sons, Greg (Cindy), and Bob, daughter, Carolyn Grant (David), 3 nieces,  5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.  A memorial mass will be said at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Friday, May 5th at 11:00 a.m.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
